As the Tour de France 2024 returns to a second stage with significant height differences after the one that saw its arrival in Valloire, the words of Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) at the press conference on the occasion of the first rest day are particularly resonant (quotes received in collaboration with Radio Sports). He says he's growing into the race, that he's stronger than he could have hoped after just 1 and a half months of preparation (following his crash at the Tour of the Basque Country in April and the consequences of this) and that he's getting stronger as the Tour de France progresses. He even described the first 9 stages as easy, and this was probably also true of stage 10, which was flat and finished in a sprint with Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) taking victory.
While Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) has been working hard and spending a lot of energy since the start of the Tour de France 2024, Jonas Vingegaard has deliberately kept himself quiet, so as to be able to shine particularly in the final week, which is particularly difficult, but perhaps also a little bit already tomorrow?

Stage 11 between Evaux-les-Bains and Le Lioran traverses the Massif Central
As the only stage to cross the Massif Central, the stage on Wednesday July 10, 2024 promises to be a spectacle in any case!The 4th stage between Pinerolo and Valloire had 3,600 m of positive vertical gain, with 71.2 km of referenced difficulties, this 11th stage between Evaux-les-Bains and Le Lioran has 4,350 m, with only 19.6 km of referenced difficulties. The main difficulties are to be found in the final 45 km, starting with the Col de Néronne (1242 m), followed by the Puy Mary Pas de Peyrol (1589 m, 1st category) and finally the Col de Pertus (1309 m) and the Col de Font de Cère (1294 m) before the finish in the resort of Le Lioran (1242 m).
Romain Bardet (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL) - already victorious on the first stage of the Tour de France 2024 in Rimini - will no doubt be keen to win this stage on home soil in his last Tour de France (he has announced his retirement after the Critérium du Dauphiné in 2025). The French rider was born in Brioude and spent his childhood in Paulhac, Cantal, just 20 km as the crow flies from Le Lioran. A Bardet bend will be installed on the Col du Pertus climb!
